SHINE
Summer Program
Hi, my name is Lauren and I am a grade 10 student in a specialized math and science high school program.
As part of the SHINE program, I am offering both math tutoring and piano lessons this summer.
Last year, I joined the Math Mentoring program at my school, offering tutoring services to my school’s grade 9 cohort. This year, I not only continue to tutor math but also run the program which now offers tutoring to students in grades 9 to 11. I would like to offer math tutoring to students who may have fallen behind, hope to strengthen their understanding, or just want to get ahead on their math material.
As for piano, I have taken lessons since I was five. I completed the grade 8 RCM practical and theory exams last summer and I am now working on grades 9 and 10 RCM material. I have been teaching piano for the past three years, and I would like to offer lessons to young learners this summer to spark their interest in music and in piano.
There is no cost associated with the math tutoring sessions nor the piano lessons. Instead, at the end of each session I will ask you to complete the TDSB Community Involvement Form to indicate the date of the session, length of the session, description of the activity, and your name, phone number and a signature.
To register for the Summer Program, please email shinebooktalk@gmail.com and let me know whether you are interested in the math tutoring or piano lesson for your child, your preferred day of the week, your preferred hour in the afternoon, and pertinent information about your child (school grade, piano level).
